Three names on white stone
Robin Vale wrote his own name on the slate at the white cairn, then passed the chalk to Amir and Paula. Each marked their own name before the group entered. The old guide's note said to mark everyone before a dusk walk and to return here if another voice offered a route. Robin treated it as an eccentric local custom until the trail repeated the same fallen tree for a fourth time.
